• Is it really local?

  Dictea is designed to process recordings, transcription, speaker detection, editing and export on your device, without a cloud transcription API. Licensing and downloads are separate network operations: providers can receive connection data such as your IP address. See the privacy policy for the distinction.

• How accurate is the transcription?

  Dictea runs Whisper-class models - the same family that powers many cloud services. Real-world accuracy depends on audio quality, accents and background noise, but for clear recordings it's very close to what you'd expect from a cloud tool, with the larger models doing the most accurate work.

• How fast is it locally?

  It depends on your computer and the model you choose. A reasonably modern machine handles on-device transcription comfortably; smaller models are faster, larger ones trade speed for accuracy. Either way there's no upload wait - processing starts the moment you hit record or drop in a file.

• Which languages can it transcribe?

  Dictea uses Whisper-class models, which support a wide range of languages out of the box. The app interface is available in six languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.

• Does it work offline?

• What are the system requirements?

  Dictea is a native desktop app for macOS and Windows. Recording separate microphone and system-audio tracks works best on recent OS versions; importing and transcribing files works broadly.

• I'm on a subscription - how do I move to another device?

  The planned device allowance is one active device at a time per Pro subscription, and one or up to three active devices for Lifetime. The intended transfer process is deactivation on the old device followed by online activation on the new one. Conditions for transfers and inaccessible old devices will be defined before sales begin.

• How does the refund work?

  Matikus, Lda. provides a voluntary 30-day money-back guarantee for Pro Monthly, Pro Yearly and Lifetime. The period starts with the first successful payment for the relevant purchase or subscription. Email dictea@matikus.com within those 30 days to request a full refund of that payment; no reason is required. If possible, include the order number so we can identify the payment. Refunds are paid through Creem. Subscription renewals do not start a new voluntary guarantee period. Statutory withdrawal and conformity rights remain unaffected. Purchases are not yet available.

• What exactly is "Lifetime"?

  The planned Lifetime licence is a one-time purchase without recurring subscription fees, with updates within the purchased major version. Duration of use, device transfers and activation terms will be defined before sales begin. Lifetime does not mean unlimited future major-version upgrades or a promise of permanent network-independent use. Statutory conformity and security-update rights remain unaffected.

• Do I need a Data Processing Agreement (DPA / AVV)?

  For exclusively local transcription, where Matikus does not receive or process your recordings or transcripts on your behalf, a customer DPA with Matikus is generally not required for that activity. Website, support-contact and licence administration are separate processing activities described in the privacy policy. Before sending customer recordings or arranging support with access to personal data, contact us to clarify the roles and any required DPA. Cloud processing or shared storage would need a new assessment.

• Can I record and transcribe other people?

  Local processing does not remove your obligations. Make sure you have a lawful basis and any permissions required for recording and using the content, inform affected people where required, and protect access and retention. Business users remain responsible for their own data-protection obligations. Check machine-generated transcripts before relying on them.
